On Sunday, March 3rd of 2024, James Carey Simmons Jr. passed away at his residence in Carencro, LA at the age of 62. James more commonly went by Jimmy, Jim, or Jimbo.
Jimmy was born in Houston, TX on September 12, 1961 but spent most of his life in Southeast Louisiana. He was a resident of Luling, LA for 29 years where he and his wife Tammy raised their family. They moved to Carencro, LA in 2022. He was an employee of Motion Industries for 35 years retiring as a Branch Manager over several branches in Southeast Louisiana in 2020, and became an employee of Sparrows Group as an Industrial Sales Manager shortly afterwards. He mentored many people in the Industrial Field throughout the years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman, a handyman who loved to fix things and take on projects; but what Jimmy loved most was being a husband, a father, and a grandfather. He loved to spend his time outdoors with his sons and grandsons fishing and hunting. Along with his wife, he enjoyed being the biggest supporter of his sons and grandsons through their sports journeys with baseball, basketball, soccer, jiu-jitsu, and everything in between.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Tammy Ferriss Simmons; his sons Brent and Tyler Simmons; his daughter-in-law Tiffany Simmons and future daughter-in-law Ana Gleibs; his grandchildren Parker and Clete Landry; his mother Felicia Bagley Simmons; and sisters Linda Lewis, Carol Roussel, and Rita Jeardoe; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Carey Simmons Sr.
