Robert “Skipper” E. Wynn, age 70, passed away peacefully at his home on June 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with an extended illness. Born in Lyons, Georgia to the late Toby and Hazel (Meeks) Wynn, Skipper was raised with strong values of hard work and loyalty. He attended Lyons schools and graduated from Lyons High School. From an early age, he displayed a fascination with mechanics and work—often riding along with his father on the tow truck. By the age of eight, he was sneaking out to drive the truck just down the road and back, much to the amazement of those around him.
Skipper began his professional career at Georgia State Prison, where his dedication and leadership earned him the rank of Lieutenant. After retiring from state service, he continued working, never one to sit idle. He spent over two decades with Mobley’s Well and Pump in Vidalia, where he found not just coworkers, but a second family.
In his free time, Skipper and his longtime companion, Juanita, enjoyed day trips exploring small towns, often in search of the best buffet around. But his greatest joy in life came from time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—especially taking them for rides on the golf cart, always happy to go wherever they wished. While his earthly journey has ended, his love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved companion of many years, Juanita Spell of Lyons; his chosen daughter, Judy (Eugene) Edwards of Lyons; two grandchildren, Chelsea (Bradley) Griffin and Jonathon (Courtney) Edwards, both of Lyons; and six adored great-grandchildren: Grayson Griffin, Austin Griffin, Dawson Griffin, Nash Edwards, Lexi Hand, and John Ross Hand. He is also survived by his uncle, Terry Meeks, and a host of friends and extended family who were blessed to know him.
Pallbearers will be Billy Mobley, Dillon Harris, David Clarke, Chess Mobley, Tanner Mobley, and Jonathon Edwards.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Gilbert Wommack officiating.
Interment will follow at South Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery in Lyons.
Low Country Cremation & Burial is honored to serve the Wynn family during this time of bereavement.
