Ronald Thomas Snell was born on March 29, 1930 in Chicago, IL and passed away on February 18, 2016 and was a resident of Altamonte Springs, Florida. He graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. Degree in marketing and was immediately drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952. He was honorably discharged after the Korean War in 1955 as a 1st Lieutenant. He served as a Company Commander in his last year of service. After his discharge, he moved to New York City and began a career in advertising and marketing working for several companies including; Connecticut General Life, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Daniels Head. He met his beloved wife, Catherine Monahan, while working in New York City. During their married years they lived and loved in Connecticut, Ohio, Maryland, North Carolina and Florida. While on The Outer Banks of North Carolina, he changed careers and started a residential development and building company. Ron was an active volunteer with Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Crime Watchers, his community and church. His love of singing prompted his joining various barbershop quarters and he sang at the Kennedy Center during his years in Maryland. Throughout his life his family remained of upmost importance. He is predeceased by his parents, Myron and Bernice Snell, his brother, Gary Snell, and Ron's long beloved wife, Catherine. He is survived by his four children, Donna Reed of Oviedo, Fl., Linda Abravanel and her husband Neal of Great Falls, VA, Karen Dempster and her husband, Doug, of Silver Spring, MD, and Michael Snell and his wife, Kim, of Siler City, NC., and his loving partner, Betty Schaadt of Altamonte Springs. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Melissa Davis and husband, Jon, Eric Abravanel, Allyssa Dempster, Matthew Reed, Alexandra Abravanel, Taylor Coldiron, Peyton Snell, and Corey Snell. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, Hayden, Julian, and Catherine. Visitation will be Sunday, February 21 from 4 to 6 at National Cremation and Burial Society at 7565 Red Bug Lake Road Oviedo, Fl. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11am at the same location. Military Honors Burial Ceremony will follow at 1 pm at Highland Memorial Gardens at 3329 E Semoran Blvd. Apopka, Fl. Reception following the burial will be held at 14 Escondido Ct. Community Center in Altamonte Springs at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in honor of Ronald Snell are being accepted at the National Diabetes Association.
