A.O. Brown III, 94, of Frontenac, KS, passed away on December 29, 2025, at his home.
He was born on April 14, 1931, to A.O. and Helen Mary (Allison) Brown in Parsons, Kansas.
The oldest of three boys, he worked in the family business, Brown Oil and Tire Company, in Parsons during WWII. He graduated from Parsons High School in 1949 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Pittsburg State University. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. On March 1, 1952, he married Claudia Amy Hiatt. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1999. A.O. received his Doctorate from Texas A&M in 1971. He was a Professor at Pittsburg State University in the Department of Engineering and Technology for 36 years. A.O. married Donna Kay (Weber) Sellars on December 11, 1999, in Pittsburg, Kansas. She survives of the home. A.O was an enthusiastic teacher and loved his coffee from Starbucks. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by four children, Sheri Jo Adkins of Pittsburg, KS, Mark Brown of Girard, KS, Doug Sellars (Michelle) of Frontenac, KS, and Kimberly Barber (Pete) of Sapula, OK; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Claudia, a son Gary Brown, and two brothers, Charles Walter Brown and Eldon Brown.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday January 3, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Wehrman officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the church. Private burial will take place at the Frontenac City Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to St. John Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
