Obituary of A. Edwards "Ted" Grigg DDS
A. Edwards "Ted" Grigg, DDS, 86, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, surrounded by those that loved him the most. Ted, born April 2, 1939, in Saginaw, Michigan was the son of Arthur Phillips and Nina (Edwards) Grigg.
After graduating from Arthur Hill High School, class of 57, where he played basketball and tennis, he attended the University of Michigan and graduated from Hillsdale College, where he played tennis and most importantly met the love of his life, C. Diane Fitter, who he married on August 24, 1963. Following graduation from the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School, Ted and Diane moved to Saginaw where he established his own dental practice, ultimately retiring in 2011. He was passionate about the principles of the Pankey Institute and provided philanthropic support to his community with free dental work for as many patients as he could treat during the Thanksgiving weekend. He was a member of the Saginaw Country Club, the Saginaw Club, the Petoskey Bayview Country Club in his later years and was a dedicated lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Ted loved tennis and was a legend at the original Garber tennis courts. He was an avid angler and outdoorsman who enjoyed fly fishing, duck hunting, skiing, and golf. Ted was known amongst his friends as a health nut – where he loved cooking, eating healthy, and exercising excessively. Ted and Diane had a plethora of good friends, some lifelong friendships akin to family. They enjoyed dancing, five o'clock cocktails, and extensive travel with them. He was a constant presence in his 3 children's lives, coaching basketball and tennis for years. He resurrected his coaching whistle and tennis racquet with his grandkids. We are eternally grateful for our guardian angel, Karen, who God gifted to us to help care for Dad during our time of need.
Ted is survived by his beloved children, Dr. Ted (Michele) Grigg, Jennifer (Jon) Wood, and Matthew Grigg (Lisa Wortman); adored grandchildren, Drew, Hunter, Jacob, and Bregan Grigg, Jonathan and Jayda Wood, and Bodhi and Eleni Grigg; nieces and nephews, Sara Ryan, Kath Biron, Kim and Ken Graham; several faithful friends. Ted was preceded in death by his loving wife, C. Diane Grigg; his parents; his sister, Barbara Biron; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Graham.
Visitation will take place Friday, November 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road, Saginaw, MI 48603. Visitation will continue on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 123 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Pamela Renna will officiate.
