Obituary published on Legacy.com by Keefe Funeral Home - Arlington on May 23, 2024.
ROUTENBERG, A. Louise, of Arlington, 93, moved on to the next place peacefully on May 22, 2024. Devoted wife of predeceased husband Lawrence E. Routenberg, having been married for 62 years.
Loving mother of Diane Tryon of
Nashua, NH; Gary Routenberg and his wife Joanne of Arlington; Lisa Routenberg of North Reading; predeceased daughter Marcia Mobilia, and Laura Roy & husband Andrew of Bedford.
Proud Grandmother of 9, Casey and predeseased Brady Tryon; Annalise, Tucker and Sophie Routenberg; Allison & Brian Mobilia and Dylan & Meredith Roy.
Great Grandmother to 4 beautiful and adorable young kids, Zeke and Eli Grennell (Tryon) along with Remy and Amilia King (Mobilia).
Predeceased by her parents Alcidas and Edith Lapierre, her sister Jean Fournier (Lapierre) and her brother Paul Lapierre.
Also survived by many fine nieces and nephews living locally and in Ohio, along with many local lifelong friends and wonderful caring next door neighbors.
Thirteen years after the end of "The World War" as it was known then, in April 1931, Ann Louise Lapierre was born in
Manchester, NH. Here she would spend her early childhood years and attend elementary school living in a village known as "Pinard's Ville". This was an enclave of mostly French speaking Canadien people, like her parents, who had emigrated there from Quebec.
Her family then moved to
Medford, Massachusetts where she attended senior high school. Her mother was a wonderful seamstress and Louise would fondly recall the lovely Senior Prom dress made for her by her mother.
Shortly after graduating from Medford High School, and at the tender age of 23, she moved to Winchester and soon after would settle down on what was then a dirt road in Arlington with her husband and 2 children, Diane and Gary. She would eventually see the road finished and her family grow to include 5 kids, all of whom she loved very much.
While she was always quite a strong and determined woman, she also had a wonderful caring sentiment for others.
Louise worked at Lahey Clinic in Burlington in the OR Family waiting room for 20 years where she was like a Mother to many. She always found great joy being able to bring comfort to many, many families over the years.
She also generously gave over nearly 20 years of her time to the Arlington Food Pantry where she enjoyed helping many less fortunate people.
Having a taste to see new places, she enjoyed international travel with husband and friends and also later with her children and groups from the Arlington Senior Center.
Her personal strength and vigor were long maintained and demonstrated by her willingness to "exercise" by doing yard work. Long after most 93-year-olds would have stopped, she maintained a regular outdoor regimen of raking, gardening and proudly caring for her property where she lived for 65 years.
Over her very long life, she loved spending summer time on Cape Cod at the beach with her family and friends. In the late 1960s during winter, she enjoyed skiing at Waterville Valley and loved skiing down the Valley Run surrounded by all her young kids.
She also enjoyed family camping with groups of like-minded friends, however most of all she really loved being with her family.
She spent many hours at the sidelines of her kids and grandkids theatric and athletic events. She was always their #1 fan.
Unfortunately, her wonderful side dishes will no longer be a part of family get together and holiday meals. She will truly be missed, and will always be in our thoughts. That said, we find comfort knowing that she has been reunited with her husband and those people close that have passed before her.
Her life will be celebrated at Saint Raphael's Church, 512 High Street, Medford on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024 from 10-11 am. Followed by her funeral mass at 11 am. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
