Aaron passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

Aaron Lockman Asay was born in Wolf Point, MT on August 20, 1984 (during harvest time, much to Grandpa Willie’s dismay), the son of Marty Asay and Donna Lockman. Before he was old enough to start school, he learned with his sister’s as they were home schooled at the time. Aaron was brilliant from the time he could talk. After moving from Poplar, he attended school in Lockwood, Frenchtown, Baker, and then returning to Frenchtown to graduate. Aaron was offered multiple sports and academic scholarships in Montana but chose to continue his education at Washington State University in Pullman. He exceled in his studies there, earning 2 bachelor’s degrees in 4 years. After WSU, he moved on to Texas to fulfill his graduate studies. In Texas he worked as a Professor and Research Lab Scientist in the Neuroscience division. Not finding much solace in this field, he decided to explore life and take on new adventures. Eventually, he moved back “North” to Dickinson where he lived and worked various jobs until his untimely death.

We will all miss Aaron and his charismatic way about him, his love of cats, and his quirky sense of humor. He truly wanted the best for people around him and tried to hide his pain from those that loved him. Aaron loved his new church family and was looking forward to getting married this year. Our family is thankful that this gave him some purpose in life at his darkest times. We are comforted knowing he is reunited with our mother.

Aaron is survived by his fiancé, Estivali Vásquez; father and step mother, Marty and Robin Asay of Baker, MT; sisters, Alissa (Jon) Miller of Baker, MT and Amanda (Dan) Lehmann of Dickinson, ND; nephews, Jory, Tegan, Tucker, Colby, and Austin; niece, Emmalyn; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and all of his dear friends that were like family to him throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by our beloved mother, Donna Lockman; grandparents, Wilbur and Inez Lockman and Tom and Joyce Asay; uncles, Pat Lockman, Mitch Asay, and Robert “Bob” Kaelberer; and cousin, Brandon Asay.
