Aaron Earl Harbaugh, born on August 30, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, Superman (AKA grandfather), brother, and friend, whose legacy will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to know him.
Aaron dedicated 34 years of his life to the University of South Alabama, where he worked in Computer Services. His steady guidance and commitment to excellence in technology not only fostered the growth of the university but also left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students and colleagues. Other passions in his life were mission trips with Mobile Baptist Builders and gardening.
Aaron is preceded in death by his parents Orville Paige Harbaugh, Sr. and Jacquelyn Joyce Van Nortwick. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Celeste Jennings Harbaugh, and their four children: Ian Harbaugh, Britni Picou (Todd), Jacquelyn Smith (Joshua), and Sara McGrath (Kenneth). He is also survived by his brother, Orville Paige Harbaugh, Jr. (Tara Wah). Aaron took great pride in his role as "Superman" to nine amazing grandchildren: Cailin, Jace, Jaydn, Addison, Jaimalyn, Jintry, Amelia, John Robert, and Tucker. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in showering them with love and wisdom.
Aaron was not only a man of great intellect but also a person with a deeply caring spirit. He was known for his kindness and generosity, always lending a helping hand to those in need. He was a source of strength for his family, providing unwavering support and guidance throughout their lives.
His life will be celebrated at Fountain of Life Church in Saraland, Alabama, on November 7, 2025. Visitation will be at 10 AM, with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM. No graveside service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Aaron's memory to The Ballard House in Katy, TX, who so graciously provided generous support to Aaron and Celeste during their time in Texas. Details can be found at www.theballardhouse.org/donate.
Aaron Earl Harbaugh will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his generous spirit, resilience, and the love he shared with everyone around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
