Mr. Aaron Dewayne Wood, affectionately known as "Man," of 405 Hetty Hill Street, Gaffney, SC, was the son of Helen Marie Wood of the home and Alonzo (Judy) Brannon of Pacolet, SC.
He was born on July 13, 1978, in Gaffney, SC. His life came to a close on November 13, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family.
Aaron graduated from Gaffney High School, Class of 1996. He joined Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Glory to Glory, where he served faithfully as a drummer. His favorite thing to do was sit downtown in Gaffney, play drums, and help people. He also enjoyed listening to his bluetooth speaker under his carport. Aaron proudly served as a Foot Soldier with the Know2 Program.
Left to cherish many fond memories are: his two daughters, Jascuria Davidson-Wood and Ariauna Ross, both of Gaffney, SC; three sisters, Cynthia Wood, Vanessa "Kay" Gist of Gaffney, SC, and Detra (Stanley) Simmons of Columbia, SC; and one brother, Johnathon Wood of the home. He also leaves behind four nieces, Pakia Byers (reared as a sister), Simone Stradford, Tamaiyah Tate, all of Gaffney, SC, and Zoey Simmons of Columbia, SC; and five nephews, Simon Stradford III, Keshawn Tate, Devin and Devon Porter, and Elijah Dawkins, all of Gaffney, SC. His memory is also cherished by three great-nieces, Za'Carie Wilson, Kalani Stradford, and Takhya Tate; one great-nephew, Messiah Jefferies-all of Gaffney, SC; and Eurie Lopez, who was reared in the home as a niece.
Aaron is also survived by seven aunts: Jacqueline (Mark) Studyvance, Robin Gillespie, Angelia (Jerried) Wilson, Paula (Kenny) Hamrick, Claudia Dover, and Sharon Dover-Byers, all of Gaffney, SC, and Everleen Eison of Kelton, SC; and ten uncles: Kenneth Wood, Eddie (Diane) Brannon Sr., Robert Brannon of Union, SC, Albert (Cleotilde) Dover Jr., Larry Dover, Dennis Dover, Marion Dover, and John Dover, all of Gaffney, Cleve Jr. (Leatha) Brannon and Johnny "Hump" (Sharon) Brannon of Kelton, SC. A host of extended family and friends also mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, C.J. and Elizabeth Wilson; Albert and Virginia Dover; and his paternal grandparents, Cleve Sr. and Lunette Brannon.
The family will receive friends daily at the residence, 405 Hetty Hill Street, Gaffney, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 241 Ebenezer Road, Gaffney, SC, with Rev. Freddie Davidson presiding and Pastor Charles Shippy officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney.
