Abdul Sattar Khan, a man of profound faith, intellect, and warmth, passed away on January 31, 2026, at the age of 69. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Abdul's life was a journey that spanned continents, languages, and cultures, leaving a legacy of love and service.
Born in Karachi, Pakistan, to Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Bacha Zarina Khan, Abdul's early ambitions took him across the globe. He moved to Fort Worth, Texas, to pursue his passion for aviation, successfully earning his Commercial Pilot License and Air Traffic Control Certification. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Martha Silvia (Macias) Khan. The two were married in 1980 and welcomed their first son, Noel, in 1982. After graduating the rigorous aviation training, Abdul moved his family back to Pakistan beginning his prestigious career as Deputy Director Airport Management.
After several years and two more children born, Juliana and Mishal, Abdul's heart was opened to the Gospel message through missionaries, becoming a Christian in 1985. He relocated his family to the United States in 1989. Although he was extremely proud of his Pakistani heritage, he was equally proud of his acquired American citizenship. Abdul's family increased with one more son, Emmanuel, and relocated his family to
Bend, Oregon in 1996, ultimately finding employment at Costco where he became a local favorite being recognized around town for his warm smile and heart filled greetings. Abdul ended the last decade of his career utilizing his vast knowledge of languages (fluent in seven) working as a Linguistic Analyst for a U.S. Defense Contractor.
Abdul loved nothing more than his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the apple of his eye…his family. His love for the Lord was not merely spoken but lived out daily through humility and faithfulness. Like Abraham of old, Abdul was willing to follow the call of God, even when it meant leaving behind the familiarity of his homeland and stepping into the unknown. His life bore witness to a deep and personal relationship with the Lord, one rooted in trust, surrender, and an unwavering belief that God's promises are always faithful.
Abdul was a true gentlemen who excelled at making those around him feel genuinely loved and deeply appreciated. His presence carried warmth, grace, and a quiet strength that reflected the faith he held so dearly. He was gifted around the grill, bringing people together through food and fellowship, and he held a deep passion for church, thoughtful conversation about politics, and the game of tennis so much so that he once attended the famed Wimbledon tournament, an experience he cherished.
Laughter followed Abdul wherever he went. He had a rare ability to lighten any moment, and his incredible singing voice added richness and depth to every choir he joined, lifting hearts as much as it lifted praise. He was no stranger to the stage life, even making appearances on Pakistani television. Above all, his life was a testament to love-love for God, love for family, and love for people-a legacy that will continue to echo in the lives of all who were blessed to know him.
Abdul is survived by his beloved wife, Silvia; his four children, Noel, Juliana, Mishal, and Emmanuel; and 14 grandchildren (with more to come). He also leaves behind his brothers, Ehsan and Kamal Khan, and his sisters, Parveen Usman and Tasneem Sabir. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Salim Khan.
His life was a testament to the power of surrender, the beauty of family, and a song of praise that will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
