Abe Hiebert
Abe Hiebert, age 85, went to his heavenly home on November 30, 2006. He was born in a small town near Kansas City, MO, on October 26, 1921. Mr. Hiebert served his country proudly as part of the 112th cavalry until 1945. Abe completed the Baytown Police Academy and later served in a volunteer position until November of this year. He worked long and hard at Merichem Co. for over 30 years until he retired in 1985. In his private life, he was an avid Astros and Ganders fan. He had held Lee season tickets since 1947, attending nearly every game while passing down his love of the game to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His love of children reached past his own family to the outside community. He took pleasure in watching children blossom in their education as he tutored at Travis Elementary. Everywhere he went he amused crowds with his endless love of origami. Mr Hiebert was most strongly recognized as a man who served God. He loved the Lord and served Him faithfully as a deacon, boy's Sunday School teacher, and member of many committees at Wooster Baptist Church. He also served in missions work as a part of Mission Service Corps for 10 years.
