Abigail Fox Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Abigail Skelly Fox on November 14th. Abbi died with her loving husband at her side.

Abbi is survived by her husband Jim, her daughter Beatrice and her son James. Her mother is Jane Pali of Bethlehem and her partner Frederick Cohane, and her father is Peter Skelly of Peterborough New Hampshire. She had an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws, and her four-legged family consisting of Moose, Marty, and Eartha Kit and their buddy, Benny. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Louise Pali, and Dorothy and Jim Skelly.

Abbi attended Spring Garden Elementary School, Moravian Academy Middle School and after gaining her senior year credits at Northampton Community College, she graduated in 2001 from Liberty High School . She proceeded to obtain her Associates in Surgical Technology degree from Northampton Community College. Ultimately, in 2020 she supported her lifelong interest in caring about others , by graduating from DeSales University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Only weeks after graduation, Abbi had a melanoma removed from her leg. With a seven inch wound on her leg, she immediately began her proud nursing career in the Behavioral Health Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Abby's family always came first in her life. With Jimmy, Bea and James, the dogs and cat, she created a wonderful, funny and unique family life. She loved spending time at the family cottage at Lake Wallenpaupack, and time by the ocean in Florida and Mexico. Just watching the frogs in their little pond brought her enthusiasm and joy that she unabashedly shared with others,

In mid-October, Abbi was diagnosed with stage four metastatic melanoma. It was an unusually aggressive strain of cancer, and she succumbed to it on November 14th.

Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Gathering which will be held on Sunday, December 4th from 1-4 PM at the Se-Wy-Co Banquet Hall, 3621 Old Philadelphia Pike (route 378), Bethlehem, PA 18015.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Sanctuary at Haafsville, PO Box 921, Fogelsville, PA 18051. Thank you,

I had the privilege of working with Abbi on BH2 and I must say she was not only caring and bubbly, she had a wicked sense of humor that will be sorely missed. BH is not the same without her. She was a wonderful human being.

Abi I met you many years ago at KidsPeace. You were always a wonderful, kind-hearted, selfless, and bigger than life soul. We shared a lot of similar views and your loss is absolutely profound. May you rest in peace and forever be our laughter and spunk!

I trained Abby many years ago at her first job as a surgical tech. I always enjoyed her personality and her spunk. Thinking of her family during this difficult time.

I was one of Abby´s seventh grade teachers. She participated in our first peer listener training program. I remember she brought some diaries to school that were found in the basement of the Market Street house that she lived in with her mom; they were written during the Civil War and were a fascinating look at life in Bethlehem during the battle of Gettysburg. Abby and I became friends and I wrote her recommendation for a summer program which my son, Kevin, ended up attending as well. I saw Abby occasionally when she lived on Market Street, and she and Kevin stayed in touch via social media. I´m so glad that she pursued a nursing degree and went on to help others.

Dear Jim, Bea, James and the entire Abby family,
On behalf of my family and myself I can not begin to express our sorry with Abby's passing. We have known her since she was about 4 and she played with my daughter Jessica every summer at 'the Lake' through high school. Her Mother Jane always shared with us what Abby was doing and we knew how proud Abby was when she became a nurse. It was clear she also really enjoyed being a MOM. Abby's passing is a loss on many different levels. At least she is comfortable now and will be watching over you in the future. God Bless.

Dear Jim, Bea, James, and the rest of Abby´s loving family,
I am so truly sorry for your loss. I worked with Abby and she was an excellent nurse who worked diligently to advocate and provide the best care for her patients. All of us staff loved to work with her. She always spoke of her family with great love and devotion. Abby will be greatly missed but always remembered.
