Ace Christianson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of retired Wood County Sheriff's Department K9 Ace.

Ace's career began in 2016 when he was partnered with Patrol Lieutenant Brandon Christianson to serve our community as a dual-purpose police K9.

Ace's day-to-day duties had a positive and profound impact on the safety of Wood County. He completed over 600 hundred patrol deployments, spent 8 consecutive years as teammate with the Special Response Team, and earned the hearts of many during community events.

K9 Ace was the recipient of nominations and awards: Named the 2020 "K9/Handler of the Year" by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Canine Handlers Association as well as earning the award, "Meritorious Track with Apprehension" for tracking and locating an elderly female with dementia who went missing on a cold January day, successfully returning her to warmth and safety.

Ace retired in January 2024 and enjoyed almost two years a of healthy and fulfilling retirement with Lt. Christianson and his family.

We are grateful for Ace's unwavering years of service with the Wood County Sheriff's Dept. and our hearts are with the Christianson family as they process his loss.
