Ada Byrnes Obituary

Ada worked as a secretary with Bell Labs in Murray Hill for many years before retiring. She loved sewing, knitting, and was an avid reader. She especially loved to read her New York Times each day up until the age of 94.
Ada was predeceased by her parents, Thomas W. and Louise S. Byrnes, and her siblings, Anna Margaret Binnie, Thomas A., Cecilia Jensen, Robert A., Charles Joseph, Alice Marie, and Patricia Byrnes.
She is survived by her beloved caregiver, Maia, and by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield on Wednesday, April 24th from 9-10:30AM followed by a 11AM Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Church in Westfield. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.

Ada, Aunt Mike, was always a constant in my life. Gracious and caring with that Byrnes sense of humor.
When I was little, and my dad was very ill in the hospital Aunt Mike spent days and evenings with me sitting by the fireplace at the big house on First Avenue having pajama parties. I couldn´t sleep, she always challenging me to a who can fall asleep faster. L O L. I´m sure it was her, but I let her believe it was me. I was eight. The fear of losing my dad was overwhelming and Aunt Mike always made me feel comforted.
Rest in Peace Aunt Mike, you will be missed. See you on the other side

Ada and Pat would visit at my grandmother´s house, Emily Byrnes (widow of Vincent F Byrnes Sr) when we were kids. They also seemed taken with the children and were sweet to us. In recent years, we´d visit with them in their home and share stories. Blessings to Ada, rejoined now with her dear sister Pat and their parents, and siblings. -Kathleen Byrnes.
