Adam Kuspa Obituary

Adam J Kuspa, 41, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at his residence in South Bend. Adam was born on May 19, 1983, in South Bend, Indiana, to Ervin Kuspa and Sue (Kuczmanski) Kuspa, who survive.

Left to cherish their memories of Adam are the love of his life, Michelle Eichstedt; children, Milo, Mia and Mason; his parents, Sue Kuspa (Tim) and Ervin (Janice) Kuspa; siblings, Jason Kuspa and Stephanie (Ryan) DeBaillie; nephew, Ryder; and niece, Kiara. Adam is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and so many others who loved him dearly. Adam is preceded in death by his Dziadzias, Richard Kuczmanski and Deacon Ervin Kuspa; and Busias, Mary Lou Kuczmanski and Verna Kuspa.

Adam's love for firefighting began as early as 3 years old, from chasing firetrucks down the street to playing fireman with his big brother in the back yard. His career began at the young age of 15 when he became an explorer for the Portage Township Fire Department. From there, his passion grew as he worked part-time at Warren Township, Clay Fire Territory and the University of Notre Dame. In 2006, he made his dream a reality to become a firefighter with the City of Elkhart. Over the years, Adam dedicated himself to the fire service and earned several promotions, with his most recent achievement of being promoted to captain. Adam wasn't just a firefighter – he was THE firefighter. He lived and breathed the fire service. He inspired everyone around him with his hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment.

Beyond his career, Adam's laughter could fill a room, lifting spirits and reassuring everyone that things would be okay. He was a true friend to all, always ready with a helping hand, a joke, or simply the comfort of his presence or his big teddy bear hugs. His love for his parents was extraordinary; he cherished his morning calls with his mom, a daily ritual that reflected their special bond. He was always offering encouraging words to his father.

In his free time, Adam enjoyed drawing, fishing trips, hunting, and cheering on his children and godchildren at their sporting events. He cherished being Dadam to Milo, Mia, and Mason. He loved teasing his nephew, Ryder. Adam also had a deep relationship with his brother Jason, who often acted as his inner voice, offering wisdom, guidance, and encouragement when Jason needed it most. Their bond was unshakable, built on shared experiences, teasing, and their cherished "bro trips." Adam was more than just a big brother to Stephanie, he was her rock. He was the person she always called for medical advice or anything else she needed, no matter the time or situation. Adam was her protector and confidant, always there to support her with love and reassurance.

In his later years, Adam found happiness with the love of his life, Michelle. She brought him a sense of peace and joy that was unmatched. Her love made him smile in a way that lit up his entire face, and her presence filled his life with purpose and happiness. Adam embraced her three children as his own, pouring his heart and energy into their family. Adam was more than just a firefighter or a man of hard work – he was the glue that held people together, a source of joy, strength, and unwavering love. His legacy will live on in the laughter, memories, and the love he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
