Adam and Gabriel Larkin obituary

Adam Larkin Obituary

Adam Jared Larkin, 16, and Gabriel Conrad Larkin, 14 both passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Haena/Shipman Beach, Hawaii. They were brothers, best friends, and practically inseparable. They spread joy and kindness to everyone with whom they came into contact. Adam was a friend to everyone and had a vitality and passion that was infectious. Genuinely curious about life and the world around him, Adam enjoyed things that require a person to think. He often migrated to trivia, riddles, puzzles, and games that tested one's knowledge or memory. Adam did not have anything resembling a poker face, however; always grinning and giggling when he had a good hand in a card game. Beyond his years in knowledge, Adam's inquisitive hunger for information was fed by his amazing ability to ask questions, constantly challenging those around him to help him find the answers. Adam was authentic in every aspect of his life. Pragmatic in nature, Adam would often surprise you with his empathy and fun sense of humor. A young man without guile or pride, Adam was one who checked in on others, wanting to make sure that they were happy and included. In his interactions with others, Adam would fix indelibly the smallest of details about the experience, person, or conversation, and then be able to recall and bring up those details years later. With such an amazing memory and sincere interest in others, Adam made one feel as if the time you spent with him mattered greatly, because it did. He was always generous and kind, but mostly, he was an amazingly dedicated and loving big brother to his best friend Gabriel. Gabriel was joy and energy personified. He found the happiness in every aspect of life, from the comical to the benign. For the past 14 years, his endless smiles and boisterous laughter brightened the day of everyone around him. With an almost uncontainable energy, one of Gabriel's love languages was touch. No one gave a better or more genuine hug than Gabriel. Whether it be that he needed one, or sensed that someone else did, you could always count on a truthful and meaningful hug from Gabe. He understood humanity's need for touch and intimacy on a very deep level and used it as a way to help others feel valued and loved. Like his brother Adam, Gabriel had a powerful mind and an amazing memory. His capacity for information and his breadth of knowledge was impressive. That was most evident when a conversation found its way to discussing cars. Anyone who knew Gabriel knew of his extreme passion for all things cars. From Formula 1 racecars, to every Top Gear episode, to the time it took a 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge to go from 0 to 60, Gabe's knowledge about car facts and statistics was unrivaled. While his intellect was impressive, more impressive was his capacity for love. Gabe had a big heart and he loved all people, but none more than his mom, dad, and especially his best friend in life, his brother Adam. Adam and Gabriel are survived by their parents, Amie and Kyle Larkin, and by their grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and the many friends who will forever remember and miss the joy and love they so freely gave.
