Adam Jason Rankin, 53, of Clinton, Iowa, died August 3, 2023 in Evansville, Indiana. He was born October 15, 1969. Jason was the most brilliant man his family ever knew. He served in the Navy and attended college courses ranging from engineering to sustainable living. He knew his way around power tools, and he loved fiercely and without abandon. He could play a slick game of Poker while changing your oil and telling the best joke. He was a magnanimous soul and will be missed dearly.
Nobody could defend and argue the Bible like Jason could. He was of service to anyone he met and has literally given the shirt from his back and the shoes from his feet to help a stranger or friend in need. Jason was generous to a fault. He was no saint. He lived in a dark world and in some of the darkest times. He had to be Big Rank when on the streets. He did the best he could with his life and we are so proud of the human he was.
"Sin" is a word that has been greatly misunderstood and misinterpreted. Literally translated from the ancient Greek in which the New Testament was written, sin means to miss the mark, as an archer who misses the target, so to sin is to miss the point of human existence. His family doesn't believe that Jason missed the mark. They believe he vacillated between the two lines of saint and sinner and struggled to find his way in this life.
He had found peace among my father Dan, his grandmother Mammy, and his friends who passed before him due to addiction. Jason and Paul Wilkes are enjoying Long Island's and looking out for us all. Let us come together in Jason's spirit.
Jason loved his mom, Joan dearly. She was always there for him. Always. As were his sisters Candice/BroSis, Camille, and Danelle. His son, Daniel James Rankin was the light of his life, he knows his daddy was a superhero.
Jason leaves behind his children, Daniel, Bodhi, Amelia, Kayley, Emma, and Kinsley; nieces and nephews, Mackenzie, Tristan, Chloe, Rumi, and Sailor Pop; and his fiancée and the love of his life, Aimee Hurst.
His family hopes that they all remember the strength of heart Jason had. They pray they can come together as a family with love and pray they all find grace. They pray that every addict today leans on Jason's spirit and aims not to miss their mark on this life. We need you here and we love you.
With love,
The Rankin Family
