Adam E. "Duke" Stelma, 83, of Luzerne and formerly of Swoyersville, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in the Post Acute Medical Hospital in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Swoyersville, on July 20, 1940, Duke was the son of the late Adam and Mary Wojciechowski Stelma.
He was a graduate of Swoyersville High School, Class of 1958.
Duke proudly served in the United States Army and was an active member of the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644 in Swoyersville.
Prior to his retirement, he worked in the garment industry and was employed by Leslie Fay for many years.
He was an avid Penn State football fan and loved to golf, play darts and billiards. He was also very proud to have been selected to play and score a touchdown in the UNICO football game in 1958 for Swoyersville High School.
Surviving are his children Lisa Stone and her husband, Richard, Florida; Steven Stelma and his partner, Michelle Chernowsky Swoyersville; and Bob Stelma and his wife, Ami, Kingston; six grandchildren; sister, Carol Bednarski and her husband, Carl, Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Duke's visitation which will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Private interment will be held in St. John's Cemetery, Courtdale, where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army.
