Adele C. Barry

Adele Clem Barry, 98, died Sunday, January 14th, 2024. Adele was surrounded by numerous family members during the final days of her life at Nazareth Home Highlands.
Central to Adele's life was her love for and commitment to her Catholic faith. Adele and her husband Tom were founding members of St. Pius X Parish, now known as St. John Paul II Parish. Adele was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, (Class of 1942) and the University of Louisville where she formed many lifelong friendships. She enjoyed her membership in the Queen's Daughters where she volunteered numerous hours of service. You could always find Adele at Seneca Golf Course on Wednesdays, where she participated for over 60 years in the 9 and 18 hole leagues. She passed on her love of golf to her children and grandchildren.
Tom and Adele were married for 61 years and together they raised three daughters, Peggy Richardson (Drew), Sue Smith (Kevin), Ceal Barry (Liz) and 5 sons, Tom (Janice), Bob (Trish), Dan (Yvonne), Tim (Connie) and Bill. In addition to her children she is survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Adele in death were her husband Tom, sister, Betty Hewitt and brothers, Bill and E.J "Bo" Clem.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17th, from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 am, at St. John Paul II, 3539 Goldsmith Ln, 40220, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
