Adele Besserman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Levitt-Weinstein Blasberg, Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapels on Mar. 5, 2026.
Adele Besserman passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 2, 2026, at her home in Hallandale, Florida, at the age of 95.

Adele was born on March 24, 1930, in Lódz, Poland, the oldest of four siblings - Irene, Toma, and Jack. From an early age she showed the strength, determination, and resilience that would define her life.

In 1947, she married the love of her life, Sam Besserman. Together they later immigrated to the United States in New York, building a new life and family. They wound up settling in Flatbush, Brooklyn, where they raised their children and then moved to Bayside, Queens where they helped raise their grandchildren before later moving to Hallandale, Florida.

Adele's personality and determination filled every room she entered. She was strong, independent, entrepreneurial, and never shy about speaking her mind.

A Holocaust survivor, Adele carried her history with courage and later dedicated herself to sharing her story with younger generations. She participated in the March of the Living many times, speaking with students and ensuring that history would never be forgotten. Through these experiences she formed deep bonds with many young people whom she lovingly referred to as her "March of the Living grandchildren."

She is survived by her beloved sons, Robert, Michael, and Sidney their wives Lois, Carol and Susan; her cherished grandchildren Lisa, Robyn, Steven, Adam, Jennifer, and Joshua, Michael , James, Nicole, ;Greg, Danielle, Elana, Sean, Maki, Caitlyn, Ethan great grandchildren Easton, Ivy, Jude, and Meyer, Saoirse, Landon and many extended family members, friends, and students whose lives she touched.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sam Besserman, with whom she shared a lifelong partnership and love.

Adele will be remembered as a fighter, teacher, dancer, mother, grandmother, and survivor - a true force of nature whose strength and spirit will live on through the many lives she touched

May her memory be a blessing and may the lives she touched continue to carry forward her strength and spirit.
