Providence, RI - Adele G. "Kiki" (Spiratos) Kane, 75, formerly of 400 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, died Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Bannister House, Providence, RI. Born in Newport, RI, on November 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas G. and Stamo (Gallas) Spiratos. Mrs. Kane had long been active in many aspects of the St. Spyridon community life, singing in the church choir, as member and president of the P.T.A. and GOYA advisor. She had been a member of the parish council since 1976, having held the offices of second vice president and corresponding secretary. She also served as the chairman of the annual St. Spyridon Church Ball and was co-chairman of the Fellowship Coffee Hour Committee. Mrs. Kane served on the 50th Anniversary Banquet Committee, worked on the 75th Anniversary Commemorative Album and served as the Consecration Luncheon chairman. The Hellenic Fest held every year, was also one of her major endeavors. As a long time member of the Philoptohos Society, she served as vice president and chaired both the annual Vasilopeta and annual bake sale for the Children's Cardiac and Cancer Fund. She was also a member of the Daughters of Penelope of Newport. Mrs. Kane was also involved in many civic functions, including the RI Heart Fund Ball, Newport Hospital Auxillary, Newport Chamber of Commerce, and Newport's 350th Celebration. She is survived by her daughters Sandra C. Coulon of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Elain Marie Kane of Dania, FL, her sister Athena Petropoulos of Newport, RI, and two grandchildren, Damin Coulon and Chanell Coulon. She was preceded in death by her sister Helen Spiratos. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 5, at 10:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport with a funeral service at 11:00 am in St. Spyridon's Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport. Burial will be in Island Cemetery Annex in Newport. In Lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Spyridon's Greek Orthodox Church,.390 Thames Street, Newport, RI 02840.
