Adele King Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 9, 2025.
Adele King passed away at her home in Woodland Hills, California, on April 3rd at age 98, joining her late husband J. Robert (Bob) King fittingly on his birthday.

Adele was born in Wilmington, Ohio, to Issac and Emmaline Raizk, the second to last of nine children, outliving them all. She attended Wilmington High School, where she was a drum majorette and sang and danced her way through all the high school plays. She attended Ohio's Miami University in Art until finding work as a commercial artist at Reynolds and Reynolds in Dayton, Ohio.

In 1954, in Dayton, she met and soon married Bob King, a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force originally from Montana. They moved to Los Angeles, California, started a family and shortly thereafter a business in their garage manufacturing test and measurement equipment. Adele was the first employee of King Nutronics Corporation, designed the logo that is still in use today, and was always her husband's trusted counsel as the company grew.

In 1980, at the age of 53, Adele decided to finally get her degree in art. She was accepted to Otis-Parsons Art Institute in Fine Art, then located in downtown Los Angeles, starting as a freshman and graduating in 1984. She was an excellent painter, with works displayed in many curated gallery shows, and formed lasting friendships with her Otis classmates.

Adele was devoted to her children and husband Bob, leading a fun, adventurous life rich with great friends, family trips and world travels. She loved literature, the theater, art museums and galleries, and tennis. Her favorite city was always Paris, her passion, art.

Adele King is survived by her daughter Leslie King and son-in-law Robert Welther, son John King, grandchildren Adele Reinking, Nicholas, Mitchell and Elizabeth King, Cameron Welther, and great-grandchildren Cal and Sylvie Reinking. Her service will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 9:00am at St. Martin's in the Fields, 7136 Winnetka Ave., Winnetka, CA.
