I am friend of Eldridge's from when Eldridge attended Hillcrest HS and I met Mrs. Mastin back in 1991, when I was a Sr. in HS. Eldridge had invited me to go along with his family to see Roy Hargrove, a famous jazz trumpeter, whom Mrs. Mastin had known when she was teaching down in Oak Cliff. It was one of the coolest moments of my life, when I got to meet one of my favorite trumpeters and actually schmooze with him for a second. I thanked her then and I'd like to take a moment to thank her now as it really had a positive affect on my life. It's a shame that I didn't get to know her better as Eldridge had left Hillcrest later that year but I have always thought about that moment and consider it one of the coolest moments of my life and it wouldn't have been possible without her. Thank you, Mrs. Mastin. My condolences go out to Eldridge and his family. God Bless her and you all.
