Adele Roques Mitchell, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, in
New Orleans, Louisiana. Born on May 25, 1935, in Metairie, Louisiana. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose thoughtful nature touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Adele's journey began as a daughter of Renee Roques and Alberta Bremermann Roques, where she grew lifelong roots and established a legacy of love and commitment. Her marriage to John D. Mitchell, Sr., was a beautiful partnership that lasted 46 years until his passing. Together, they raised a family that became Adele's pride and joy. She is survived by her loving children, Charleen Mitchell Taylor (Buddy), Darlene Mitchell Rabalais (Ralph), and John D. Mitchell, Jr. (Lizette). Her legacy continued to blossom with her grandchildren, Shannon Nettles (Brad), Ryan Rabalais, Rachel Rabalais Dunbar (Matt), Cody Mitchell (Rachael), and Megan Mitchell Cotten (Jeremy), and her adored great-grandchildren, Logan Nettles, Margo Nettles, Mason Dunbar, Leonce Mitchell, Jaxten Cotten, and John Cotten. The family will hold cherished memories of Adele's boundless love and support.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John D. Mitchell, Sr.; her treasured granddaughter, Margo Demma; her parents; and her siblings, Althea Verdun, Renee Roques, Constantine (Mickey) Roques, Sr., and Andre "Maurice" Roques, who instilled in her the values of family and faith.
A successful career marked Adele's professional life as a Sales Representative for Avon, where she dedicated over 30 years of service. Her excellence in sales was recognized through her membership in Avon's prestigious Presidents Club. Through her work, Adele not only provided for her family but also forged lasting friendships and connections within her community.
She was a lifelong resident of Metairie and a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Metairie.
Adele's interests were deeply intertwined with her love for her family. She was known as the biggest cheerleader for her husband and children, enthusiastically supporting them in all their endeavors in sports. Her presence at games and events was not just about the sport but about showing unwavering support for the ones she loved.

New Orleans, LA 70124, on Friday, November 14, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM. The burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
