Adelia V. Fernandes, 99, the widow of Adriano Fernandes, entered into the gates of heaven on November 27, 2025 after a brief stay at Waterbury Hospital.
Mrs. Fernandes was born May 17, 1926 in Nabais Gouveia, Portugal, daughter of the late Isidoro and Piedade Lameiras Vida. Adelia and her late husband Adriano immigrated to Naugatuck in June of 1966. She worked at Peter Paul and the Naugatuck Glass Company and she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She loved to garden, knit, sew and watch tv.
Adelia is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mary and George Huntley, Ceu "Sally" and Domingos Oliveira and family, Adeliede Gabriel and family, Paul Fernandes and family, Isaac Fernandes and family and Jose Fernandes and family as well as many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her two brothers and five sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Waterbury. Everyone attending Mass is kindly asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck, CT. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
