Adeline Mullen Obituary

UTICA - Adeline "Addie" (Ameduri) Mullen, 95, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026. Born on December 22, 1930, in Utica, New York, she was the beloved daughter of Salvatore Ameduri and Carmella (Forgione) Ameduri, who immigrated from Gioiosa Ionica and Naples, Italy in the early 1900s. Addie was the youngest of twelve children, carrying forward the strength and spirit of a family shaped by both hardship and deep devotion. She was predeceased by four siblings lost during the 1916–1918 influenza pandemic, as well as her brothers and sisters in law Fiore (Vickie) Ameduri, Arthur (Ang) Ameduri, Adolph (Margaret) Ameduri, Sam (Willa) Ameduri, and her sisters and brothers in law Mary (Angelo) Esposito, Amy (Bill) Houston, and Josephine (Umit) Ogut. She was a 1949 graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, a milestone she was proud of as the daughter of hardworking immigrant parents. On August 5, 1962, Addie married Frank J. Mullen, and together they welcomed their daughter, Lisa, who remained the center of her world. Addie worked for General Electric Radio Receiver for 20 years before stepping away to raise her daughter. She later resumed her career with New York Telephone-now Verizon-where she dedicated another 20 years of service before retiring. She was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers, where she lovingly crocheted baby blankets and lap robes for those in need. A lifelong communicant of St. Anthony–St. Agnes Church, Addie gave countless hours helping prepare for parish feasts, fish fries, and community events. Her faith, generosity, and willingness to lend a hand were constants throughout her life. Addie found joy in simple, beautiful things-music, which filled her childhood home and remained a lifelong comfort, and flowers, which she nurtured with care and delight. Whether planting, tending, or simply admiring them, her garden was an extension of her gentle spirit. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Mullen Withers and her husband Jeff, along with her cherished "fur grand puppy," Gus, and many loving nieces and nephews who will forever remember her warmth, humor, and unwavering kindness. Addie's life was one of quiet strength, devotion to family, and a heart open to giving. Her legacy blooms on in every life she touched. Lisa and Jeff extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Choudry, and to the compassionate 5th floor nursing staff-Grace, Lindsey, and Rachel-for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided to Addie in her final days. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. For those unable to attend, you may be present virtually at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88444305064. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Adeline's Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home and at 12:00 p.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. This obituary was lovingly composed by Addie's daughter, Lisa.
