It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved patriarch, Adolfo Ramos Acorda, at the age of 86, on December 22, 2025. Fondly known as "Papa," Adolfo was born on September 27, 1939, in Sacol, Buenavista, Agusan del Sur, Philippines, to the late Tomas R. Acorda and Celerina Ramos Acorda.
Adolfo was a lifelong scholar and dedicated professional. He was an alumnus of Araneta University Foundation, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Animal Science, a Master's degree in Agriculture, and a PhD in Agriculture and Livestock. He also earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of the Philippines.
He shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his cherished wife, Gloria Nazario Acorda, whom he married on September 12, 1964. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, service, and deep devotion to family.
Adolfo enjoyed a distinguished and impactful career in veterinary medicine. He served as a former professor at Gregorio Araneta University Foundation (now De La Salle Araneta University), a consultant for piggery and poultry farms, and General Manager of InPhilco, a veterinary drug company.
He was actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including:
Helped organized and an associate of the Philippine College of Swine Practitioners (PCSP)
Former President of the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA)
Former President of the Veterinary Practitioners Association of the Philippines (VPAP)
Former President of the Philippine Veterinary Drug Association (PVDA)
Received the highest Centennial Award in the field of Veterinary Medicine given by the President of the Philippines - Fidel V. Ramos.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Adolfo was deeply known for his faith, love of family, and service to his community, both within and beyond the Church. He was generous, charitable, and consistently looked for ways to help others.
Throughout his life, he faithfully served in many Church callings, including Elders Quorum President, Bishop, Stake President, Patriarch of the Jacksonville, Florida Stake, and Temple Ordinance Worker at the Manila Philippines Temple, Orlando Florida Temple, and Palmyra New York Temple.
Adolfo was a diligent student of the gospel and a devoted lover of scripture, with a passion for studying and memorizing the word of God. Beyond his faith, he had a deep love for animals and volunteered with the Animal Humane Society in Florida. He also had a great passion for history, often watching historical documentaries, along with a love for classical music and classic films, which he collected over the years. He enjoyed collecting souvenirs, treasured meaningful keepsakes, and loved to travel.
Above all else, Adolfo loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy and pride.
In 2002, Adolfo and Gloria moved to Florida, and later became residents of Upstate New York.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Gloria; his children Camilo-Bunny (Denia), Erik (Myrna), Joanne (Larry), and Mary Ann (Doug); his siblings Dr. Feliciano (Estella) Acorda, Flora (Jose) Miranda, and Segundina Fortun (late Silvano); 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in demise by his brothers - Esmeraldo, Marcelino, Luzmindo, and sister - Estelita Lomongsod.
His family will be present on Tuesday December 30, 2025, from 9-10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 754 Scovell Drive,
Lewiston, NY, followed by Funeral Services at 10:00 AM.
