Decorated war veteran, Adolph B. Campbell, Sr. went to be with the father on November 28, 2021. AB was born in Front Royal, Virginia on February 3, 1929, to Fred L. Campbell Sr. and Lottie Kerns Campbell. At the young age of 17, AB enlisted in the US Army as a medic and paratrooper under the 505th parachute infantry regiment of the 82nd airborne division completing 42 military jumps. After 20 years of service, serving on 3 continents in countries such as Germany, Japan, Korea, France, and the USA, AB retired and went into the USPS for 23 years.
AB is preceded by his parents Lottie Kerns and Fred L. Campbell, Sr.; sister, Jean Rozier; brother Joseph Campbell and two sons A.B. (Bernie) Campbell, Jr. and Scott (Carmen) Campbell.
AB and wife, Mavis D. Myers enjoyed 71 marvelous years of marriage. They were blessed with five children, Bernie, Mark Campbell (Barbara), Scott, Judy Lewis (Jay), and Randy; followed by 10 beautiful grandchildren, Kimberly Battle, Corey, Joshua, Laura, Buddy, Angels, Randolph "RJ", Jr., Bailie, Mayson and Miranda Campbell; and five delightful great-grandchildren, Kylie and Jathod Battle and Brayden, Raylen Campbell and Delta Sullivan. He is also survived by his brother Fred L. Campbell, Sr. "Buddy" and sisters Clara Johnson and Cindy Holmes. Along with family and country, AB's greatest desire was to serve the Lord at Kings Temple UPC by giving back to his community through bus ministry and little league football. His family called him "Amazing AB" due to his ingenuity to fix anything. When the outdoors was calling, AB was ready with a fishing rod, tent or hunting rifle.
Please join AB's family and friends in honoring him at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Kings Temple UPC, 8951 Kingston Road, Shreveport, LA 71118. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service with military honors at 2:00 p.m. at the NW Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clarke Road, Keithville, LA.
Honoring AB as pallbearers will be Mark Campbell, Randy Campbell, Corey Campbell, Josh Campbell, Buddy Campbell, Randolph Campbell, Jr (R.J.) and Jay Lewis.
