A.C. ACKER
Adolphus Crayton, “A.C.” Acker, age 84, died Friday, January, 9, 2004, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Acker was born on November 26, 1919, in Greeley, Alabama, the son of the late Adolphus C. and Abbie Taft Acker. He was a laborer for U.S. Steel, retiring after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy as a Seaman 1st class.

Mr. Acker married Evelyn Johnson on June 28, 1941, in Alabama.

Surviving with his wife, are three children, Patricia A. Tramell of McCalla, AL, Glenda Sue Gale of Winchester, VA, and Elliot C. Acker of Stephens City, VA; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six sisters Zillie L. Tramell, Thelma Hastings, Mary L. Bush, Georgia L. Stacy, Mamie R. Goodwin, Etta L. Dunbar, all of Alabama. Three brothers, Newell Acker, Ephraim Acker, and Archie Acker has preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Reverend Mikel Blitch officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 2123.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, 500 Ray C. Hunt Drive, Box 80108, Charlottesville, VA 22908.
