Adrain Harper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes – MacDonald Chapel - Howell on Sep. 6, 2025.
Adrain Lee Harper, age 84, of Howell, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2025.

Born November 1, 1940, in Salyersville, Kentucky, Adrain was the son of Clyde Harper and Rose (Helton) Harper. On January 7, 1967, he married the love of his life and best friend, Dorothy Watts, in Lexington, Kentucky. Shortly after, they moved to Michigan, where they built their life and raised their family together.

Adrain worked with steadfast dedication at Alpha Tech for 38 years before retiring. In his free time, he performed in the Walled Lake Church choir group, where he joyfully sang alongside his wife. Adrian's love for music-especially Southern Gospel-remained a comfort and passion throughout his life. A man of deep faith and quiet strength, Adrain was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Adrain found joy in gardening, fishing, and keeping his lawn meticulously cared for. He was proud of his potato and tomato harvests, and happiest when he could share the fruits of his labor with family and friends. His love of Christmas, Western movies, and cheering on the Cincinnati Reds were simple pleasures that brought him great joy. He embodied Southern hospitality-always ready with a seat at the table, a meal and story to share, and a warm welcome.

Above all, Adrain loved the Lord. His faith guided his life and touched everyone who knew him.

Adrain is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Dorothy Harper; his son, Adrian Harper Jr. (Michele Cloutier); grandchildren, Daphne (Layne) Valade, Shana (Rick) Bantau, and Andrew Harper; great-grandchildren, Cody (Madi) Valade, Christian Valade, and Kassidy Bantau; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Joeanna McIntosh; son-in-law, Oscar McIntosh Jr.; his parents, Clyde and Rose Harper; siblings, Dora Cooper, James Harper, and Emma Yates; and his loving dog, Sampson.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave, Howell. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Webberville Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions in Adrain's honor may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 599 Chilson Rd, Howell, MI 48843.
