Agatha Palazzolo, 83, passed away peacefully at Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers following a short stay at Encompass Health Rehab in Woburn, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Francesco Curreri, with whom she shared 8 years of marriage.
Born in Terrasini, Sicily, Agatha was the daughter of the late Domenico and Rosa Palazzolo. She immigrated to Gloucester MA at the age of 16 and proudly earned her High School Diploma two years later. At 20 she returned to Sicily to marry Francesco and shortly after, came back to Gloucester to begin her family. Following the early passing of her husband and mother, she was left to raise three young children. With the support of her father and siblings, she recognized that education was key to a stable future. She attended North Shore Community College at night while working days earning her associate degree in business and accounting. Agatha went on to work for Mahony Insurance for many years and provided bookkeeping services for countless small businesses. She remained active in her profession, working work full and then part-time until the of age of 73.
Family was always at the center of Agatha's life. She devoted herself to raising her children with love, faith, and a deep appreciation for education. Though life brought challenges, she ensured that her children were always cared for and never without. As they grew older, Agatha became active in the Insurance Women's Association, took up ballroom dancing, dedicated herself to spiritual growth and healing.
Despite facing several serious health challenges later in life, Agatha demonstrated remarkable resilience, recovering almost completely each time. Independent by nature, she continued to drive, shop, attend appointments, and participate in senior center exercise classes until recently. She enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes, praying, and practicing online guided chair yoga daily. Ever diligent, she continued managing insurance policies for her clients and even completed her continuing education requirements via Zoom classes this summer, truly unstoppable.
Among her greatest joys were her great-grandchildren who delighted in visiting their Nonna and receiving her signature treat a single Lindor chocolate ball.
Agatha is survived by her daughter, Antonina (Nina) and son-in-law, Umberto Eramo; sons, Giuseppe Curreri and his wife Michelle Morrow Curreri of Beverly, Dominic Curreri and his fiancé Laura Rider of Largo, FL; 7 grandchildren, Francesca and her husband Theodore Carmone of Reading, Marcella and Corey Shea of Salem, Liana and Jeffrey Arena of Beverly, Olivia Curreri of Winthrop, Sophia Curreri and her husband C.J.
