Agatha "Ila" (Terrell) Titshaw, age 105, passed away peacefully on October 20th, 2025, in Saint Augustine, Florida, surrounded by love and family.

Born on July 29th,1920, in Jacksonville, Florida, Ila lived a remarkable life that spanned more than a century-one filled with love, service, and devotion to family. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1938 and began her career as Secretary to the Manager of the Seminole Hotel in Jacksonville, Florida.

After initially meeting on a blind date, Ila married the love of her life, Emmett R. Titshaw, on July 12th, 1947, in Jacksonville. Together they shared a beautiful partnership built on faith, kindness, and their shared love of gardening-he tended the vegetables, and she filled their world with flowers. When not at home, Ila and Emmett traveled the world, visiting 17 countries and all 50 states.

Throughout her life, Ila called several places home, including Jacksonville, Florida; Florence, South Carolina; Celebration, Florida; and finally, Saint Augustine, Florida. Wherever she lived, her warm heart and giving spirit touched those around her.

Volunteering and public service were lifelong passions for Ila. Alongside Emmett, Ila was committed to the "L" Company 4th Marine Division, hosting reunions and ensuring Veterans remained connected post-war. Even into her eighties, she devoted her time to Give Kids the World in Kissimmee, Florida, bringing joy and comfort to families. She was also a devoted member of Garden City Methodist Church in Jacksonville, where her parents were charter members in 1926.

Above all, Ila's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her three children: Agnes "Irene" (Titshaw) Frisby (Jacksonville, FL), Major General Emmett "Buddy" R. Titshaw, Jr. and his wife Gretchen (Vodrey) Titshaw (Saint Augustine, FL), and Terri (Titshaw) Haber (Champions Gate, FL); eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. Her love for each of them was boundless and unwavering.

Funeral services will be held at Peeples Family Funeral Home, 14165 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida, on Thursday, October 30th, 2025. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by a service at 12:00 PM. A brief graveside service for family and friends interested in attending will follow with departure from the funeral home at 2:00 PM for Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Ila will be remembered for her faith, her kindness, her gentle humor and wit, and her enduring love for her family-a legacy that will continue to bloom for generations to come.
