Agnes K. "Kitty" Martin
Oshkosh, WI - Agnes K. "Kitty" Martin, (92), passed away on January 20, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on July 29, 1933, in Rusk County, (Conrath) Wisconsin, to Isadore and Emily (Nitek) Kuzniewski. The fourth of five children, she was the first to attend college and make a dream come true. At age 8, she decided she would become a typing teacher --and she did!
Kitty graduated first in her class from Tony High School in 1951. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education at UW-Whitewater, graduating in 1955. After teaching high school business classes for three years, she chose to step into the business world herself, believing her students would benefit even more from her real-world experience.
During the next four years, Kitty worked in Chicago and New York as secretary, statistician, accounting clerk, and Trainee Supervisor gaining business experience. To keep her hand in teaching, she taught evening business classes. In 1959, Kitty relocated to Minneapolis to join IDS, where she was given the opportunity to work across multiple departments to expand her experience. One particularly unique assignment involved working with Lloyds of London in England to resolve fidelity-related matters.
While at IDS, Kitty met her future husband. One of her supervisors, familiar with them both, suggested there was a girl he should meet. He did, and two years later on November 21, 1964, Kitty married Robert C. "Bob" Martin in St. Paul, Minnesota. She left IDS when Bob became City Manager of Fort Atkinson.
Kitty earned a Master of Arts degree from UW-Madison in 1969 and returned to teaching at UW-Whitewater. From 1972 through 1998, Kitty taught at MATC-Fort Atkinson where she taught a wide variety of business classes. Always ahead of her time, she created a course to guide students through the job search process and work closely with local businesses to connect graduates with employment opportunities. She was recognized as the "Employee of the Year" for the 1990-1991 school year. She touched the lives of her many students with her endless encouragement and support.
She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church where she served on the Vestry, taught Sunday School classes, and was very active in all women's activities. She was Cookie Cupboard chair for several years and will be remembered for the hundreds of dozens of cookies she baked and decorated as well as her intricately decorated gingerbread houses.
After their retirements, Kitty and her husband traveled extensively including such far-off places as Australia and Macchu-Pichu, South America; and winters were enjoyed in Arizona and South Carolina. Kitty enjoyed spending time with her family, genealogy research and country dancing with her husband Bob.
Kitty will be greatly missed as she was a never-ending source of acceptance, encouragement and support to all that were blessed to have known her.
At the time of her death, Kitty was the oldest living relative of both her mother and father. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her two brothers, John and Frank Kuzniewski; and two sisters, Bernice Prokop and Jeanne Koontz.
Kitty is survived by her two daughters, Margaret L. (Dan) Bish of Greenville, SC, and Grace M. Seager of Oakfield, WI; two grandchildren, Cameron Bish and Emalie Seager; a brother-in-law, Thomas (Carol) Martin; cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon reception at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Fort Atkinson. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Fort Atkinson.
