Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Agnes Virginia Carter Shelton, age 84, of Monroe, LA will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe with Pastors William Smith and Jarrett Fix officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe, LA.
Agnes was born on February 13, 1940, in Delhi, LA and passed away at her residence on December 30, 2024, after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ollie Carter; her sisters, Gladys Carter Valudos, Alice Carter Rainwater, and Ruby Carter Dayberry; her brother, James (Son) Carter.
Agnes is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Daniel Shelton; daughter and son-in-law, Pam Shelton Till and Scott Till; and grandchildren, Erin Till and John Michael Till; son and daughter-in-law, Danny Shelton and Jessica Shelton and their daughter Giana LaPietra; and her beloved Boxer dog, Bruno.
Agnes graduated from Holly Ridge High School in 1958. After graduating from high school, she started her legal secretary career in 1960 at Boles, Boles and Ryan, now known as Boles Law Firm, until the time of her retirement in 2000.
Agnes was a long-time member of Lakeshore Baptist Church working in VBS and in the Good News Club. She enjoyed reading her Bible and spending time in God’s word.
Pallbearers will be John Michael Till, Karsten Clinton, Kasen Clinton, Wilson Carter, Jason Carter, and Kenneth Dayberry.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe, LA.
The Shelton family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Ms. Alicese Clinton, Mom’s caregiver for the past couple of months. Words can never express how much you mean to our family and how much we love you. We have been blessed to have you care for our mother. The compassion and love you have shown will never be forgotten.
We would also like to thank Elara Hospice for the compassionate care given to Mom, especially Nurse Kinyada and CNA Arnita.
Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Baptist Church.
