Agnes White

Mary Agnes White, age 94, of Cherokee, died Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, February 16, from noon until 2:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. There will be a private interment at Harris Chapel Cemetery.

Agnes was born in Mynot on May 17, 1931, to the late Clayton and Ruth McVay Choat. She married the love of her life, Ralph White, in 1948. They built their lives on love for the Lord, family, and community.

Agnes was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a substitute teacher for many years, and Agnes was an election inspector for over 40 years. Agnes and Ralph were faithful members of Cherokee First Baptist Church, where she served in many areas.

In addition to those previously mentioned, Agnes was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Bill Puckett.

Those left behind to miss her the most include her daughter, Donna Johnson (Harold); grandchildren, Brooke Reese (Matthew) and Eric Gifford (Katherine); great grandchildren, Noah Strickland (Brelyn), Olivia Strickland, Daniel Gifford (Jaci), Ruthie Gifford, Lucas Reese, and Cooper Reese; sister, Libby Puckett; and nephew, Danny Puckett (Kim).

Pallbearers include Danny Puckett, Bradley Puckett, Matthew Reese, Daniel Gifford, Noah Strickland, Norman Woodis, Scott Vance, Andy Waldrep. Honorary pallbearers, J.D. Choat, Wayne White, and Tommy Deaton.

The family gratefully acknowledges the care and support of Alabama Hospice of the Shoals, Dr. Anthony Horton, and the staff of Helen Keller Hospital.

Memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
