Al was always a perfect gentleman; kind hearted, caring, a true servant of the Lord and treated everyone with respect. In years past it would not be a 4th of July parade without Al and Engine 1 appearing in the parade. I served with Al for two of the three terms I was a member of the Board of Selectmen. At sessions where a petitioner was seeking approval for a restaurant, I would always ask "Did they have a children's Menu?" Al would often kid me about that and at my retirement ceremony, Al presented me with a homemade children's menu complete with menu items and prices. It is a cherished item among my memorabilia. To know Al was to enjoy his ever present smile and positive attitude and the fact that he never spoke unkindly about anyone.
