Alan Jay Abeld passed away peacefully at Waukesha Memorial Hospital on December 13, 2025, at the age of 72. Alan's journey through life was deeply rooted in faith and community and he was confirmed on June 4, 1972, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stonebank.
Alan's commitment to his work was evident throughout his remarkable 45-year career as a custodian at Oconomowoc High School, a role he embraced from 1978 until his retirement in 2023. He was not just a custodian; he was a friendly face known to students and staff alike, always ready with a smile and a helping hand.
For 21 years, Alan was an active and cherished member of the Stonebank Lions Club, where he served as Lion Tamer for an impressive seven years. His commitment to service was matched only by his passion for socializing. Alan was a true people person, often found enjoying the thrill of bingo, savoring summer nights at the Oconomowoc Band Shelter, and relishing pontoon rides with friends and neighbors. Alan's love for life was evident in his simple pleasures, from laughing at game shows to sharing stories with loved ones. He brought light and laughter into the lives of many, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Alan is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dorothy (Dreist) Abeld and his brother Dennis Abeld. He is survived by his half brother James Barczak; along with other family and friends.
A celebration of Alan’s life will take place on Saturday, January 24 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stone Bank. Visitation will be from 10-11, with a service to follow.
