Dr. Alan Joel Dessen

Believe it or not, there is not a mouth without mentioning him when talking to the other Echo Tech. You are still alive with me Profe.

"Doc" saved my life in 1997 from a severe Myocardial infarction. His care for me all these years has been the best. I always looked forward to our visits every six months.
He always used the little grade school students desk to write his notes. On occasion we'd talk about military and his time in the Air Force.
I was disappointed and happy that he had retired. I am heartbroken it was for medical reasons and he has passed to early. My favorite picture is in his Phoenix Suns basketball uniform at basketball camp.

Alan and I played basketball together for many years, first at Shea Middle School and then at the JCC on Maryland. Alan was a wonderful guy with a heart of gold and a great competitive spirit. I recall many times walking past Alan's home in Heritage Heights and recalling what a special person he has always been. So Alan, now you can forget Ira's turnovers, recall the hyper-competitive but always enjoyable games at the JCC and know that you are missed. I am honored and blessed to have had you as a friend and as a part of my life. Condolences to the Dessen family and to all of Alan's many friends.

25+ years of Sunday morning basketball would not have been the same without Alan Dessen. I cannot guess how many times Alan and I threw fingers to pick teams. Alan was an avid participant and would become someone he wasn't for the rest of the week, along with all of the other "players". Alan would often use a word which only he knew the meaning of, and everyone laughed as no one had ever heard that word, especially on a basketball court. Alan finally made it to the Hall of Fame. Rest in peace, my friend.

DR. "D", We worked together for a long time. More closely the last 14 years doing stress testing with you. I looked forward to seeing you everyday, it was truly a pleasure, we had some good laughs and through the years you taught me a great deal. Thank you for your kindness and for always treating me as an equal and a friend for the past 33 years. I Will miss you so much. ( Ricky, you have some explaining to do)... RIP

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the Dessen family. I will remember him fondly and the way he could always make the staff laugh.

Dr. D was always kind to everyone that had the pleasure to meet him, he always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. You will truly be missed in the medical community by all and it was an honor to work along side you.

I am so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort hear your heart-broken prayers and provide you with much needed comfort during the difficult days and weeks ahead (Isaiah 42:10).
