Alan G. Deveau

Alan Gerard Deveau
Born January 10, 1959 to Cliff and Anita Deveau of Hebron. Younger brother to Gail and David.
He attended Hebron School and YCMHS with a semester at Kings Edgehill. He had a passion for English horseback riding when he was young and travelled to horse shows, and exhibitions to compete.
From a young age, Alan was into fashion, and was proud of the fact that he was the first person in Yarmouth to wear painter pants, duck boots, knickers, and buffalo sandals.
He was always ready to recommend a good movie or books to read.
After high school, he attended Acadia University and an acting school in New York City. He lived in Toronto for a while doing designs for store window fronts for Holt Renfrew. When he returned to Halifax he dressed windows for Mills Brothers
Folks in the film industry have nothing but praise for his work ethic, knowledge and professionalism.
He spent time in front of the screen in Screwballs, Recruits, Loose Screws, The Good House and the episode Pick Me Up in Peggy's Cove, which was part of the Sons and Daughters CBC series.
He worked in the following films and series in no particular order as an on-set dresser in Shipping News, From (seasons 1&2 and set to do season 3 this summer), Amelia, Pure (both seasons), Hard Drive, Call Me Fritz, Faith, Fraud and Minimum Wage, Noah's Ark, Summerhood, Just Buried, Poor Boys Game, Sex Traffic, Sleep Murder, A Hole-in-One, Too Young to be a Dad, Haven (5 seasons), Sea Change, Chapelwaite, Boots of Blood and Washington Black (not yet released).
He was a production designer in Hide and Seek and Back in your Arms.
Alan was entertaining, funny and witty! You couldn't sit with Alan at the beach without laughter erupting. Trips with him would have you stopping at antique stores and down back roads with him orchestrating every adventure off the cuff. Alan was the kind of person that you never wanted to say no to. His antics and character were movie material. He was our Star of the Show/pain in the ass.
A Funeral Service will be Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 10 am from St. Ambrose Co Cathedral, Yarmouth. Interment in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Father Henry Smolenaars officiating. For those unable to attend the service there will be a live stream on the St. Ambrose Church website.
Donations may be made to the Yarmouth Food Bank.
A funeral mass date will be announced on Sweeny's Funeral Home website and Facebook in the next several weeks.
