In June of 1976, just out of High School I was given the opportunity to work for Al at Al´s Who´s Place. Al would always have fun picking at me because I couldn´t reach the liquor bottles. We instantly became friends. Being young, I strived to be the best I could be and Al was my mentor. He and Gloria took me under their wing and helped make me the person I am today. Honestly, Al was more like a father figure to me. He was family and always there. When I was looking to buy my first home for my mother and I, I went to Al for guidance. He didn´t hesitate in helping me and making sure I had what I needed. He didn´t want anything in return because I was family.. and every year I looked forward to his birthday because I would take him an apple strudel and listen to his stories, many of which I had heard countless times before. One of the funniest memories is how working for Al, we could all say that somewhere around 11 at night, he would pop in to check the registers so he could see how much money he was making. He would ride around to each of the clubs to see how busy they were.. He was funny but such a smart businessman. There are countless other memories that I could personally share about Al. But when I think of him, I always think of his smile. How humble he was and what a true gentleman he was. He cared and loved so many. He had such a significant impact on my life and who I am, which I will truly be forever be grateful for. Al will be missed by so many, but his legacy and memory will live on. Losing him is such a loss for us, but what Heaven has gained is such a treasure. Al, you will always hold a very special place in my heart and I love you. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers. God Bless
