Alan Russell Givans, age 74, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully Thursday morning February 26, 2026, at his winter residence in Bradenton, Florida.
He was born on October 10, 1951, in Bluefield, West Virginia, a son of the late Albert and Shirley Givans (Neal).
Alan Russell retired as a sheet metal worker with local #110. He enjoyed fishing, doing anything on his tractor, and being outdoors. He loved a good bonfire and spending time with family, especially his grandkids. He was a big kid at heart that was beloved by all that knew him. He left a lasting impression on everyone young and old with his fun-loving nature and goofy antics.
He was an avid animal lover, but not just your average pets. He was known to have and raise snakes, reptiles, Jason the woolly monkey, raccoons, skunks, ferrets, donkeys, prairie dogs, emus, and many others both domestic and exotic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Talkington, and a brother, Jerry Givans.
Alan Russell is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Cindy Givans (Bowling); and two daughters, Joni Collins (Dave) of Georgetown, Indiana; and Kate Robinson (Don) of Memphis, Indiana, 5 grandchildren, Casey Collins, Gracie Collins, Libby Robinson, Shooter Collins, Allie Robinson; one sister, Linda Gabbard (Harold); and four brothers, Butch of Charmouth, England, Gene of Pekin, IN, Rick 'Squid' of Thorton, CO, Doug of Charlestown, IN and Tommy of Louisville, KY along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Alan will be laid to rest back home in Indiana. No local services will be held.
