We honor the life of Alan Katz, born in 1935 in a small town outside of Buffalo, New York. He passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025. Alan spent his adult life in Columbus, Ohio, with his loving wife, Sandy. They are survived by their three daughters, Michele (Bill) Plesich, Jody (Mike) Uth, and Susan (Rob) Godes, his grandchildren, Lindsey (Jake) Huffman, Jason (Rory) Becker, and Moriah Godes; and their great-grandchildren, Ava, Lilia, and Ariella Huffman, and Reyna, Zev, and Leora Becker. He was preceded in death by his his beloved wife, Sandra Katz and parents, Morris and Stella Katz.

Alan was a dedicated pharmacist and historian. He loved collecting historical patent medicine memorabilia and held a pharmacy license in three states. He often spoke fondly of the days when his family was young, and he ran his own pharmacy, Allen Pharmacy. During his lifetime, he served as president of the Ohio Academy of Pharmacy and was active with the Ohio State University School of Pharmacy.

Alan was a proud member of Temple Israel and the Masons, where he made lasting friendships and contributed significantly to the community. He was a veteran of the Air Force and volunteer at the Veterans Administration for many years.

In celebrating Alan's life, we remember a loving father, a supportive friend, a funny companion. His memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew him. We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of Alan on his memorial page.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, November 26 at Epstein Memorial Chapel, 3232 E Main Street, Columbus with interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery (Zoom Link below).

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Temple Israel (Link Below).

I was saddened to hear of the loss of your father. As you know, I was disappointed that he was unable to be at Jeff's birthday party last summer. Alan was a favorite cousin of mine and he shared, to me, that I was a favorite of his. Here's a photo of Alan taken at my Aunt Sara's 100th birthday party on July 20, 2008. I will miss him.
Love,
Mickey Hoffman
