Alan King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Homes on Jan. 28, 2026.
Verlin Alan King, age 69 of Tunnel Hill, GA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Hamilton Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his father, Hermon Cleveland King and daughter, Tracy King.

Alan will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his generous spirit, and the countless stories he shared about a life. He had a gift for finding meaningful historical trinkets and delighted in giving them to others, each one carrying a story he was eager to tell.

From a young age, Alan was fascinated by how things worked. He loved taking things apart and putting them back together, a curiosity that stayed with him throughout his life. He had an eye for hidden treasures-whether in objects, places, or people. Some of his fondest memories were made camping with his grandfather, where he learned to appreciate nature, adventure, and quiet moments of connection. Alan was deeply loyal to his friends and family. His generosity was felt by everyone who knew him, not only through what he gave but through the time, attention, and care he offered so freely. One of his children shared, "He always taught me the things I needed to know in life, and I will remember those lessons the rest of my days." His legacy lives on in the people he loved the stories he told, and the kindness he showed without hesitation. Alan's life was a testament to curiosity, generosity, and the beauty of simple treasures.

He is survived by his loving significant other, Heather Horner; mother, Helen King-Kizer of Ringgold, daughters, Sarah (Chad) Gilley of Rossville, Kendra Mae King of Kelso, Washington; sons, John Alan King of Crandall, Brian (Lacy) King of Dalton, John Christopher (Sara) King of Chatsworth; sisters, Kathy (Robert) Morris of Chatsworth, Kim (Donnie) Stephens of Cohutta, Laura (Gary) Casper of Ringgold; brothers, David (Rhonda) King of Rocky Face, Joseph (Jennifer) King of Murrieta, CA; grandchildren, Alex, Corbin, Kaliese, Lorelei, Evelyn, also several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4:00 pm until the service time at 7:00 pm., with Pastor Ronald Guffey officiating.
