I'm a bus aide for Greenville County Schools and my routes have taken me to Washington Center on and off for years now, that's where I met Mr Alan, I was so saddened to hear of his passing and I wanted to send my sincere condolences to all his loved ones. Mr Alan would always have a smile when coming to the bus to receive a student and always nice to me, it was really interesting reading about all his accomplishments, he was truly a man of God and was welcomed home no doubt, my prayers are with you all

I loved attending the adult Bible study class at Hilltop Baptist Church in 1989 & 1990, that Pastor Madden taught.
I am thinking and praying for Cheryl now & that God will comfort her in the days ahead.

The 5 Years I work with Alan at washinton center. Not a day go by he wont speak with a smile . He one of the few people I know that know the bible like the back of his hand. There was a time when I come to work with a personel issue. I share it with Alan, He gave me some good advice on it. That took away the stress. He been trying to get me to go to his church But it never happen Doing the Power outage in the county Last week. I Texts him to see if he and his family doing ok with Power, He said Yes. He said Yours? I said no. Alan is going to forever be miss by the washington center staff.

Alan was very talented musically and enjoyed participating with his students in musical activities in our adapted music classes at Washington Center. Occasionally, he would accompany a song with his guitar. One day, he said he had a recorder and would like to play a duet during music class for his students. So, we played "Amazing Grace" on our recorders for his class. Alan also could be counted on every year to be the "men's section" in our faculty choir for graduation, as he was the only man to volunteer. He truly made a difference in our school.

I was a fellow care ministry counselor with Alan at Brookwood Church and from the first time I met him I could tell by his compassion and dedication to his fellow man that he loved Jesus and the love of helping people. I am honored to call him friend and visited with him often over a meal and talk about Jesus and our lives. I am going to miss his smiling face and the care of people and delivering the good news about our savior, Jesus. I know we will see him again in heaven. Loved him as a good brother of Christ. God bless the family during this difficult time of saying good bye. Prayers !
