My daughter (10 yo) made friends with Alan´s dog, whom she called "Odie." We are pretty sure that isn´t his name but Al always went along with it. He was always kind to wave "hello" and chat briefly when we passed by on our walks. He will be missed in the neighborhood

I remember mountain biking with Alan in the Foothills above Osmond Lane in Provo around 1988. He had that amazing custom bike that had a front suspension fork before anyone else had one. Every interaction I had with Alan was joyful. What a good, happy person. The world would be better if people were like him.

To all of Alan´s loved ones and family, Please accept my sincere condolences.
I met Alan in jr high school sporting a suave flat top that made his already large statue look even bigger. He immediately won my friendship with his infectious laughter and goofy personality. He dated my sister thru high school and went on biking trips to Moab. I know he had a deep love for nature and his family. Lost contact with him over the years but would´ve loved to have jammed some music with him. Rest in peace my good friend!

Alan Markham and I met years ago at jam sessions that he co-hosted, sharing his trusty Nord keyboard with me to sit in while he took a break.
Alan's genuine enthusiasm for my playing, despite Alan being a much better musician always flattered me and made me feel good.
Alan was kind and generous to me in this way.
Some years after meeting, Alan was appropriately deliberate, inquisitive, and protective when he inquired about music instruction for his children, Luke and Sybil at the music school that I manage.
It was a privilege to be asked, much less chosen to provide for Luke and Sybil's music study. Both of whom inherited their talent, diligence and gentle kindness from Alan and of course, their mother, Loretta.
What delightful young people.
I will miss Alan, and he will be missed by our music community, his family, and his friends, I am sure.
I offer my heartfelt and loving condolences to Sybil and Luke, and their mother, Loretta. I wish them love and strength in their mourning.
Thank you for sharing these parts of your life with me, Alan. Now rest in peace.
