Alan Michael Ojala, age 55, of
Hartford, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, at the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans' Administration Medical Center after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on February 23, 1970, in Marquette, Michigan, Alan devoted his life to serving others - first through military service, and later through his work in education and his unwavering kindness to everyone he met.
Alan proudly served in the United States Army as an armament systems specialist for Apache helicopters. He was a veteran of both Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, and he carried his deep sense of duty, discipline, and compassion with him throughout his life.
After his military service, Alan began working with students as a special needs paraprofessional at Hartford Jt. 1. He later became the Lead Custodian at Hartford Union High School, a role he truly loved. To Alan, the school was like a second home. He often said, "I'm here for the kids," and he meant it. His dedication to the students and staff, along with his ready smile and helping hands, made him a beloved figure in the school community.
Alan never met a stranger. Whether striking up a conversation with someone in the grocery store or lending a hand to a neighbor, he made people feel welcome and important. He was the kind of man who would drop everything to help, and his generous spirit touched countless lives. The world was simply better with him in it.
Alan was the devoted husband of Diane Sischo Ojala; loving father of Tyler and Kaylee Ojala; beloved son of Beverly and the late Jacob Ojala; dear brother of Brian Ojala (John Cowan); son-in-law of Elsie (Cliff) Lalone and the late Raymond (Mary) Sischo Jr.; cherished brother-in-law of Sherry (Phil) Weinert; and proud uncle of Noah and Eliana Weinert. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and the many lives he touched.
Memorial Services for Alan will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025, at Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St.,
Hartford, WI 53027). Family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00 p.m. until the start of service at 6:00 p.m.
