Alan Charles Srp

Alan Charles Srp, age 75, of Oakland, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at his home. Alan was born on August 23, 1947, to Charles and Alice (Levy) Srp in Austin, Minnesota.
From 1966 until 1968, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. On April 23, 1968, Alan married the love of his life, Diane Sutlief, in Hawaii while he was on leave from serving in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from the service, Alan returned home to help his father on their dairy farm. Following his father's death, Alan and his brother, Carl, farmed together as fourth-generation farmers on the Srp farm. He was also a caretaker to his mother-in-law, and in more recent years, a caretaker to his wife. The titles Alan cherished most were Dad and Papa. Alan and Diane were blessed with four children that were raised on that farm. He was a proud member of the V.F.W. Post 1216 and the American Legion Post 91 in Austin.
Alan was known for his kind gentle soul, sense of humor and dedication to his family. He was a humble man who loved God. Alan also loved his country, holding "important business meetings" over coffee time with his brother and friends, country music, the color purple, Levi's jeans, pizza from Steve's and George's in Austin, and most of all he loved his family.
Alan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lance (Jennifer) Srp of Austin, Minnesota, Frank (Sarah) Srp of Kasson, Minnesota, Donald (Christine) Srp of Mesa, Arizona, and Lacy (Jesse) Van Hill of Grand Meadow, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Allison, Landon, Natalie, Chase, Raegan, Annalise, and Lorelei; siblings, Carl (Vicki Wolfe) Srp of Oakland, Minnesota, Alana (John) Miller of Oakland, Minnesota, and Beth Srp of Owatonna, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Terry Srp; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alice Srp; wife, Diane Srp in 2022; and his brother, Gary Srp.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Austin with military rites by American Legion Post 91 and V.F.W. Post 1216. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
