Alan was a wonderful man: kind, gentle, funny, thoughtful, smart and loyal. He was an acquaintance in high school and my first long-time love in college and after. Time, distance, and diverging occupations and lifetime goals saw us drifting apart. But, the love, respect and memories we shared were special to both of us. We re-connected at our 50th high school reunion and were both able to share our respective lives with one another. In his final months, he had the courage and honesty to send a message to me (and others) of his health issues and to reflect upon his history with each of us, with sensitivity and appreciation. He honored our shared past with warmth and kindness, and assured us that he was at peace with his life and his legacy. And, although he asked that we not mourn when the time came, I find myself thinking of him often, with fondness and appreciation for having had the privilege of having him in my life. My thoughts also go to his siblings and to his beloved Mel and Emily. I want to send you my deepest sympathy and gratitude for enriching Alan´s life for these many years. God be with you.
