Alan was a dear buddy for many years in Washington, Seoul, Jakarta and Puntjak, Cambridge. Sorry I had not kept in touch and didn't know of his passing. I will remember him and miss him.

Uncle Alan was a father figure for me. He taught me so much about all that was real and important. He was a giant to me. Storyteller, adventurer, and mentor. Uncle Alan embodied family, love and action, teaching me that we have a place of significance in the world. He resides in me and lives on through me and my children. With thanks and reverence I say good bye to Alan, a dear and foundational man in my life. Thank you Alan!
