Alan Vlad Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home - Farmington on Nov. 15, 2023.
Alan Vlad, age 63, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2023.
Alan was born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Theordore and late Marion Vlad (Wass).
Alan had an indomitable spirit, and passion for life that touched the hearts of all who knew him. He transcended boundaries, excelling in various pursuits that reflected his zest for adventure. As an avid cross-country runner, Alan found solace and triumph in the rhythm of his footsteps across terrains. As a dedicated mail carrier for the US Post Office, he not only delivered letters but also shared his infectious enthusiasm for life with everyone he encountered.
Beyond the postal route, Alan was a force to be reckoned with on the track, showcasing his prowess in the 1985 Detroit Turkey Trophy Championship. His dedication and skill made him a true champion, leaving an indelible mark on the running community.
Off the track, Alan found joy in the harmonies of the Livonia Civic Choir, showcasing his diverse talents, not only as an athlete but also as a vocalist. His love for Motown music resonated deeply, reflecting the rhythm of his soul.
Sports fanaticism ran through Alan's veins as he passionately supported his Detroit Tigers and Lions. Whether on the slopes, conquering downhill or cross-country skiing, or cheering for his favorite teams, Alan's enthusiasm was contagious.
Yet, amidst all his accomplishments, Alan held a special place in his heart for his only daughter, Michaela, and her husband, Alexander. Their bond was a testament to the depth of his love and the enduring impact he left on those closest to him.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable athlete, singer, and postal carrier, let us remember Alan not only for his victories on the track but for the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him. May his legacy inspire us to embrace life with the same vigor and passion that defined his journey. Alan was a true champion on and off the track.
Alan is survived by his beloved daughter, Michaela (Alexander) Persondek; and dear brothers, Robert Vlad, Douglas (Debbie) Vlad, and Neil (Marina) Vlad.
Family and friends may gather at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, on Sunday, December 3, from 12 noon - 3 pm. A ceremony honoring Alan's life will begin at 3:00 pm.

I had the fortune of singing with Al for 5 years in the Livonia Civic Chorus. He was a good man and very smart. God bless you all!

I worked at the post office with Alan. We sang songs together both at work and at karaoke. He was always kind and had a great singing voice! He laughed alot and enjoyed life! Rest in peace Al! My condolences to his daughter.
